Nancy Sinatra Criticizes Trump for Using Frank Sinatra's Music

AD

Nancy Sinatra has condemned U.S. President Donald Trump for paying tribute to her late father, Frank Sinatra.

The 85-year-old artist, known for her outspoken criticism of the president, was not pleased when he shared a video of the iconic crooner performing his signature song, "My Way," on his Truth Social platform over the weekend.

A fan commented on X: "Omg, Nancy Sinatra will not be happy about this. Trump goes against everything that Frank stood for. He was a big champion for equality and supported the Civil Rights movement."

Nancy responded: "This is a sacrilege."

She expressed her frustration about her inability to take action against Trump's sharing of the video.

When a social media user asked if she could have it removed, she replied: "Unfortunately no. The only people who can do something are the publishers."

Nancy also shared a fan's tweet stating: "Trump may love Sinatra, but Sinatra did not love Trump."

She has previously insisted that her father, who passed away in 1998 at the age of 82, "loathed" the former reality TV star.

In December, she commented on a video showing ICE officers confronting construction workers, stating: "This is not my father's America. He would be devastated. Trump is so wrong in so many ways."

In response to someone claiming her father would have loved Trump, Nancy retorted: "Do some homework before you make a fool of yourself. My dad loathed Trump."

Several musicians have previously voiced their discontent with Trump using their music, including Johnny Marr, The Rolling Stones, and the Village People, as well as the estates of the late Sinead O'Connor and Tom Petty.

Ted's family condemned the president for playing "I Won't Back Down" at a campaign rally, stating: "Tom Petty's song was used at Donald Trump's campaign rally in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Trump was in no way authorized to use this song to further a campaign that leaves too many Americans and common sense behind."

They added: "Both the late Tom Petty and his family firmly stand against racism and discrimination of any kind. Tom Petty would never want a song of his used for a campaign of hate. He liked to bring people together. Tom wrote this song for the underdog, for the common man and for everyone."

The family reiterated that they had not been "complicit" in the song being played and revealed they had sent a legal notice to the president's campaign organizers, demanding he refrain from using the music in the future.

The statement continued: "We want to make it clear that we believe everyone is free to vote as they like, think as they like, but the Petty family doesn't stand for this. We believe in America and we believe in democracy. But Donald Trump is not representing the noble ideals of either. We would
