Singapore Airlines (SIA) is celebrating a historic financial year by granting eligible employees a generous profit-sharing bonus equivalent to 7.45 months' salary, following an unprecedented annual profit of $2.78 billion for the fiscal year ending March 31.
The airline's net profit climbed by 3.9% compared to the previous year's $2.68 billion, with a significant boost coming from a special $1.1 billion accounting gain related to its expanded stake in Air India after the completion of the Air India-Vistara merger in November 2024.
SIA Group achieved record-breaking revenue of $19.5 billion, marking a 2.8% increase from last year, fueled by strong demand for both passenger travel and cargo services across its Scoot and mainline operations - transporting an impressive 39.4 million passengers during the period.
"Our people have been instrumental in delivering these outstanding results," said an SIA spokesperson. "This bonus recognizes their dedication through challenging times and positions us well for future growth."
Despite these achievements, operating profits saw a 37% decline to $1.7 billion due to intensifying competition in key markets across Asia and beyond.
Shareholder Rewards and Future Outlook
The company announced robust shareholder returns including:
A final dividend of 30 cents per share
Total annual dividend payout reaching 40 cents per share
$1.2 billion total distribution scheduled for August approval
SIA emphasized its strategic advantages moving forward:
Dual-brand strength: Leveraging both premium SIA service and Scoot's budget offerings
Indian market access: Expanded reach through new Air India partnership (25.% stake)
Cargo network resilience: Optimized global freight capabilities
Tactical flexibility:"We maintain ability to quickly adapt routes based on shifting travel patterns"
