The newly introduced regulations establish precise serving sizes to maintain portion consistency and accurate nutritional labeling. The guidelines also address beverage service policies while pushing for environmentally conscious meal planning that prioritizes locally grown ingredients. These initiatives were unveiled during the recent third annual Dubai Food Safety Forum.
To make nutrition education engaging for young learners, Dubai Municipality is implementing creative approaches including interactive games through their new digital platform "My School Food." This innovative tool transforms essential food safety lessons into fun learning experiences.
"We've developed game-based materials that effectively teach children about proper food handling," explained Dr. Naseem Mohammed Rafie, Acting CEO of the Environment, Health and Safety Agency at Dubai Municipality. "The program covers critical topics like safe storage temperatures and proper food preservation methods in ways that resonate with young minds. Students often become powerful advocates for these healthy practices within their families."

A groundbreaking Nutrition in Charge (NIC) initiative now equips designated school staff with specialized training to oversee healthier eating programs. These nutrition ambassadors ensure compliance with dietary standards, monitor meal quality, provide staff training, and address any nutrition-related issues within their institutions.
